Breaux Symposium next Friday

Clear your calendars for next Friday (and next Thursday afternoon)! This event is the most valuable opportunity you'll have in years to talk about the topics of 7005. More information is available here: http://www.lsu.edu/reillycenter/index.htm

Also, don't forget about this coming Friday, when two Senators will speak on "Civility in Public Life" at 2 pm in the Holliday Forum.

Here's an email I just got from Kirby Goidel about next Friday's Breaux Symposium:

Greetings all,
I wanted to invite everyone to attend the Breaux Symposium next Friday (October 16) in the Holliday Forum at the Manship School. This year's symposium addresses the technical challenges confronting public opinion polling and what they mean in terms of efforts to define, measure, and understand public opinion. The participants include Charlie Cook (The Cook Political Report), Mark Blumenthal (Pollster.Com), Charles Franklin (Pollster.Com), Scott Keeter (Pew Center), Anna Greenberg (Democratic political consultant), and Susan Herbst (author of several books including "Numbered Voices" and "Reading the Public").

I have attached a schedule for Friday. Please note also the reception on Thursday afternoon in the Holliday Forum. I specifically asked for the time so that faculty and grad students from mass communication and political science could have informal conversations with the panelists. Charlie Cook will also provide an overview of the 2010 elections at lunch time on Friday. (Bring a lunch).

Please let me know if you have any questions. If you would like to see the papers that have been submitted so far, just send me an email and I'll forward them. Hope to see you there!

Kirby
